Um. Considering this was explicitly one of the founding principles upon which Guild Wars was based? And how the developers STILL publicly harp on this principle even today (although obviously DoA is an utter failure in that regard)?
Try again.

I would have only one recomandation for Arenanet:
Raise the Costs for an Ambrace of Thruth back to 25 and then give 3-5 gems for completing the quest.
Everybody could choose the reward (tormented weapon) he really wants for himself then...
BTW: We finished Nightfall within 2 days but the DoA had content for more than 1 week. Thats more than the whole Chapter!
And nobody does UW because of the beautiful area, its only the ectos.
Here u would do it because of the gems.
I like DoA even after completing it...

Oh and while we're at it, let's add some retarded zone effects too... wheeeeeeee."
Fissure and UW... No gimmicky bullshit, and challenging for a long time. And STILL fun to play. In fact, without using post-Prophecies professions, UW still requires some organization to clear.
Edit: And the more gimmicky you make a place, the more limiting your option of professions and builds you can bring becomes -- as evidenced by Urgoz and The Deep, and now all over again in DoA. You can take *any* profession to Fis/UW without *any* problems. A badly organized group will fail whatever the group formation may be, a well organized group will always prevail.
Mallyx is NOT a worthy foe. There's nothing worthy about creating a guy with some uber skills that we don't have, having him hit for 600 damage and putting him in an area with some bs zone effects. Anet is forcing us to come up with EXTREMELY specific builds to stand a chance against him, many people will be left out once again.
Do I remember Anet calling this a "compelling mission"? Hah, plowing through 17 waves of lv28 mobs *yawn* and then facing this guy... compelling? What a joke.
(Oh and before people start claiming that I'm writing this becuase I probably just can't beat this myself or something... Me and my guild were one of the first to have finished the 4 areas, without much problems and much faster than it takes most groups to clear an area.)

Wow im not a pve expert and i can design better rewards for mallyx. For example,
1. give vambrace for each person (gems would be for those who dont wanna beat doa to get items or for thsoe who want a 2nd set)
2. if ur gonna give greens, they might as well be torment skins cuz u are in the most hardcore realm out there
thers proably more ideas but i came up wit that in 2 minutes. gg anet

Yeah, and may it be Urgoz or the DoA, half of the teams that could succeed fails anyway because of the quiters...
most GW players aren't used to this kind of length, so they joins groups without taking that into account, and more than anything that's what make them difficult.
4h-missions just aren't reasonable.
anyway, those who asked for something difficult were given DoA, the challenge lasted that much, I just hope we won't hear about them again, and that we will be given areas that everyone can enjoy no matter his profession in chap4 (or before? ).

honestly i'd rather mallyx drop Urgoz longbow and Kanai's Axe than the bulls*** he does.
petition to change the drops to Factions elite mission boss drops /signed.
Edit: To rehash skins that CLEARLY were not popular in the first place for the hardest mob in all of GW....terrible, terrible, disappointing and utterly careless call on A-Net's part. my first true disappointment with GW. And that's saying something.

I'm curious. Since when does anyone consider ANY green item an uber leet weapon? Who cares what the skin is. It's green. If you want to brag about your e-peen, get some leet golds.
That said, everyone seems to be forgetting the Tormented weapons, which are, in fact, the FoW Armor equivelent in weaponry. That's supposed to be your goal in DoA, not some lame green. I can't count the number of times people said (in multiple thread throughout the last year+) that "wahhh I wish there were FoW weapons that would be so cool wahhh". So they add them. And you forget they're even there, or you whine about the price/difficulty.
Honestly I hope everyone of you whiners quits and goes to play WoW so I never accidentially group with you for anything past noob-island.

You'd have a solid point if completing the DoA was necessary to playing the game. It isn't, it's additional content for those that have completed the missions.
The founding principles is that hours played isn't a necessity to playing the game - and neither is completing DoA, which is an area for those that prefer to spend hours.
That said, with people learning the zones it no longer takes very long at all.
So yeah, about the greens dropped, I agree with Sha. People in this thread are literally begging Anet for free money upon completion, not to mention you get the value of 4 gems and a green item. If I recall, there was significantly less whining about Kanaxai's Edge, which has the Crenellated skin.
Oh, and the green actually has a prefix mod that isn't complete trash. What a shame, eh?

hey,
well as promised we post the build / idea. u need a flesh golem, so that all the defense chars can stay out of the area. the rest is inside and kill mallyx with everything expect hexes and condition. at 80% and 50% u have spawns, which you have to kill. with monks or one monk (depending) outside, it s pretty easy.
have fun testing it.
the idea is from wostl, tschen, besen and myself.

Er a bit confused here. I have access to citadel but so far cant find a grp to try it with so dont really know what the end parts is like
Do you use the golem to NT/CC the monks outside the area? Is that what the golem is for or for something else ? Just in case i ever get a citadel grp that is.

Succinct and to the point. DoA is another FoW/UW, with some "new" greens (Everlasting Ghostly Staff ftw =.=).
